Why so many Zadar guests fly into Split
Split Airport (SPU) in Kaštela has far more connections than Zadar, especially early and late in the season, and flights there are often cheaper. The catch is the 135 km to Zadar. The bus means a ride into Split, a change at the bus station and three or more hours with luggage. A private transfer goes straight from the arrivals hall to your door in about 1 h 30 on the A1 motorway.
How the pickup works
Send your flight number when you book. Saša tracks the flight, waits in the arrivals hall with your name and helps with the luggage. If the flight is late, the pickup moves with it at no extra cost. Summer Saturdays at Split Airport are some of the busiest days in Croatia, and a driver who is already waiting saves you the taxi queue.
Stops worth making on the way
- Trogir, 15 minutes from the airport, for a coffee in the old town
- Krka National Park, close to the motorway near Šibenik
- Šibenik and St James's Cathedral
- Primošten, for the view of the old town on its peninsula
Also from Split to the rest of the coast
The same transfer works for Biograd na Moru, Sukošan, Petrčane, Nin and the islands' ferry port at Gaženica. Groups of up to seven with golf bags or prams travel in the Mercedes V-Class, couples in the S-Class with its long rear legroom and near-silent electric driving.
