Why go to Plitvice with a private driver

Plitvice Lakes is Croatia's best-known national park and the most rewarding day trip from Zadar. It is also about 130 km inland, so the day is long. Doing it by coach means a fixed meeting time, a fixed route through the park and the same crowded boardwalks as everyone else.

With a private transfer you leave when it suits you, ideally early enough to be among the first on the trails. Saša knows the quieter route through Lika, waits while you explore and has the car cool and ready when you come back up from the lakes.

Suggested day

  • Morning pickup from your hotel or apartment in Zadar
  • Arrival at Entrance 1 or 2 of Plitvice Lakes for your ticket time
  • Four to five hours on the trails, the lake boat and the panoramic train
  • Lunch in a local restaurant near the park
  • Back in Zadar in the early evening, or a stop at Rastoke on the way

One way to Zagreb or Split via Plitvice

Plitvice sits halfway between Zadar and Zagreb, so it works well as a stop on a transfer. Leave Zadar in the morning with your luggage in the boot, spend the day at the lakes and arrive in Zagreb in the evening. The same works in reverse, or as part of a longer trip through Croatia.

Tickets and timing

In summer the park sells tickets online with a set entry time, and they can sell out. Book your tickets first, then send Saša the entry time and he will plan the pickup around it. Comfortable shoes are a must: the walk around the lower and upper lakes covers several kilometres.
